The spring edition
of BING magazine (#139) is now available from The International Club
Crosby.
The important
developments in the USA
since our last issue are described in depth by Greg Van Beek, Martin McQuade
and Judy Schmid. Greg gives us the
fascinating background to the Christmas
at the Hollywood Palace TV special and Martin describes the marvellous New
York tribute at the Donnell branch of the
New York Public Library. Judy Schmid provides a blow-by-blow account of the
opening of the new Bing Crosby Restaurant in California.
Tributes
following the recent deaths of Crosby
stalwarts Lionel Pairpoint, Virgil Edwards and Sister Mary Francis Moore are
made and there is further news of the Crosby
estate’s legal battle with MCA. Contributions from all the regulars include Wayne Martin who looks back at ‘Bing
before Brunswick’ and Keith Parkinson
who considers the British Film Institute’s listing of the most successful films
seen in the UK as well as continuing his A-Z of Bing’s movie career. Bert Bishop reports on Bing on radio
and TV since our last issue and Ken
Crossland examines the new CD and DVD releases.
There’s so
much more too and to see it all, make sure you order your 56 page magazine now.
