The winter 2009 issue of
BING magazine is a bumper 60 page edition bringing details of a magnificent new
7-CD set from Mosaic
Records. This is a marvellous new issue which has
come about thanks to Bing Crosby Enterprises and their Vice President of
Marketing and Production - Robert S. Bader – who is a real enthusiast and
who has many ideas for marketing Bing’s music. Mr. Bader has kindly
written an article for us giving the background to this new box-set and I am
sure all will find this to be fascinating reading. This box-set will have a
comprehensive booklet with session by session notes written by Gary Giddins. All in all, it is a most prestigious item which we
shall all like to have if we can afford it. It is a limited edition with only
20,000 copies being pressed.
Our usual contributors continue to find new subjects to entertain us with
Greg Van Beek and Martin McQuade digging up little
known facts about other facets of Bing’s life. Bob Halls sends an
in-depth report on the Leeds meeting which again seemed to be appreciated by
those present. Keith Parkinson looks at Say
One For Me and Gord Atkinson recalls his meetings
with Tony Bennett.
If you are interested in Bing Crosby,
you will find much to interest you in this latest issue.
